Gifts All Around
For their event series, all about economies of generosity, I wanted to create a poster design that illustrates the notion of the circle of the gift, with people passing around contributions. Taken together, they resemble the growth from seed into fruit. Assisted by our more-than-human companions — perhaps our most overlooked gifts! And from this gift circle, a new horizon opens up: the possibility for abundant, thriving futures.
I used fresh spring colors and botanical illustrations of predominantly North American wild herbs.

otherWise’s Sap Moon cycle of community conversations explored the diverse interactions that exist between species, including humans, in an ecosystem, such as parasitism, mutualism, and commensalism. Through this artwork, I attempted to visualize some of the countless interactions and associations between these more-than-human inhabitants of Central America. Using botanical illustrations of species that sometimes break through the frame that surrounds them, the artwork hints at the possibility of an escape from the page, back into the living landscape.
